Quick Release Now Available

This is the PSC Quick Release that attaches to the shock mount. These are available directly from PSC

The quick release mounted on a K-tek pole. This one is identifiable as a prototype by the absence of an anodized finish.

Removing the cover gives easy access to the connectors.

The PSC quick release system is one of the most useful gizmos I have in my tool kit. Shock mounts fitted with the PSC system mount quickly to the pole and are secured with a locking collar. Since the electrical connection is made at the same time, changing mikes is very quick and easy. This sort of convenience actually makes a difference in the recorded sound. Because it's so fast and easy I don't hesitate to make a change whenever it might be advantageous.

If there is any disadvantage, it is the need to permanently mount the quick release fitting on the end of the pole. When I added a K-tek pole to my kit, I was reluctant to cut off the K-tek mount. Getting together with Chinhda Khommarath, we devised this adapter that screws on to any pole and accepts PSC fitted shock mounts.

Now it is possible to work with the PSC Quick Release system without modifying the pole in any way. Simply screw adapter to the end of the pole, connect the cable, and you are ready to accept shock mounts fitted with Quick Release adapters. This is particularly nice if the mixer likes the quick change system but the boom operator has a favorite pole.

A bunch of the components cut, polished, and ready for anodizing.
We were careful to keep the adapter as light as possible. The XLR fittings are plastic and the adapter housing is aluminum with plastic covers. Only the tapped fitting for boom pole mounting is steel. (We learned from the prototype that threading the aluminum frame was not adequate for long service.)

Assembled, wired, and ready to be shipped.
We made up a bunch and have them available for immediate shipment at $45.00 each. They're fully wired up and ready to use. Let us know if you would like one (or two or three):
Yes! Send me my own Quick Release Adapter!

(We make only the boom end of the system. For microphone adapters, go to PSC)
