Tom had steady work on the second unit of "CSI" this season (winter 2003/spring 2004) and used the new 24-bit 96 kHz Yamaha board for all of it. First unit on CSI records on Deva and turns in DVDs to post but, for second unit production was happy to work with DAT. Tom used a PD-4 with a Nagra back-up, a quad box of Lectrosonics radios, and a Denecke GR-1 for the timecode master. The box clipped to the handle on the right is the bell and light control. |

| This is Marc Gilmartin's cart on the set of "Nip/Tuck." He is using a Deva as primary recorder on that show with a Fostex PD-4 as a back-up. Although a Denecke GR-1 is visible below the Fostex, Marc uses the Deva as timecode master, jams the Denecke from the Deva, and then feeds the slates from the GR-1. Immediately below the Yamaha you can just see the Comtek base station transmitter for video village and Lectrosonics IF-B transmitter for the boom. The antennas are wired in separately but not seen behind the forest of monitors. On the shelf below you can make out the DVD burner. Marc uses 2 Lectrosonics quad boxes, one full with four receivers and the other packed with just two. The smaller unit provides for two radio booms, leaving the other quad box free for wiring the talent. The metal box below the laptop houses the switches for the bell and light system. | ||||||||||||||||
